The beauty of the rocking horse begins with the careful selection of quality timber - ash, beech, walnut, oak, American tulipwood, utile or indeed whatever the customer desires - from reputable supplies who, in turn, purchase only from carefully-managed areas of reforestation where replanting of sustainable timbers is the byword. The master craftsman's hand then transforms the blocks of wood that comprise each horse by skillful use of mallet and gouge - for each Robert Mullis rocking horse is made by the craftsman himself. Made to the highest specifications, each horse conforms to the Toys (Safety) Regulations 1989 (S1 1989/1275) and bears the CE mark. Each is unique and characterised by a painstaking attention to detail - from the choice of the finest horse-hair, to the specialist glass eyes, to genuine leather. Because each horse is hand-made and made mostly to order, a high degree of individuality is possible. You can choose the colour of hair, stirrups, saddle and tack - even eyes. Your horse is then truly your own.
